Zofia Jastrzębska stars as a young Roma woman who dreams of becoming a rap star but her ambition butts up against the needs of her debt-threatened family. Poland, hip hop and a tight-knit Roma community make for an unusual mix in this visually impressive spin on the two-worlds-colliding genre. But fans will be delighted that Timothy Olyphant’s Raylan rides again in this sequel – albeit largely bereft of career scene-stealer Walton Goggins. Offbeat crime drama Justified, featuring Elmore Leonard’s maverick US Marshal Raylan Givens, flew a little under the radar in the UK first time round. It’s all jolly good, easygoing fun, but it’s a touching segment featuring author Raynor Winn reading from The Salt Path, written to help husband Moth deal with a heartbreaking medical diagnosis, that gives this enjoyable show some much needed emotional heft. We learn that Clunes has five dogs, one called Bob Jackson, Giedroyc gets seasick at the mere suggestion of a wave and – watch out – there are spoiler alerts at every turn if you haven’t read Tess of the D’Urbervilles, On Chesil Beach or anything else the pair skim through. Playing out like a pilot for a future series – despite the hopeful “Explore Britain” tag we stick resolutely to Dorset and this is a one-off – Giedroyc and Clunes playfully jaunt around renowned literary landmarks from The Cobb in Lyme Regis to Eggardon Hill in a book tour that’s more of a comedy speed read than anything that digs too deep into the county’s rich literary heritage. Thomas Hardy and Enid Blyton are not the most natural of bedfellows, but it’s this unlikely duo who take centre stage in a bouncy literary tour of Dorset hosted by the rather more compatible Mel Giedroyc and Martin Clunes.
